Huntsman was instrumental in bringing bespoke tailoring to the big screen with elegance and accuracy in the latest crime thriller 'The Outfit'.
Many of the outfits you see on screen were created by Huntsman for the stars of the feature, Mark Rylance and Dylan O'Brien.
Mark plays the role of Leonard Burling, an English tailor who used to craft suits on Savile Row. After a personal tragedy, he finds himself in Chicago, operating a small tailor shop in a rough part of town where he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them: a family of vicious gangsters.
Huntsman Creative Director and Head Cutter Campbell Carey worked closely with Costume Designer Sophie O’Neill to realize her vision for the film.
Campbell and Huntsman Coat Maker Steve Venn also worked closely with Mark for his role as a bespoke tailor. A stickler for authenticity, Mark spent hours of training with the team, learning all aspects of the tailoring process here at 11 Savile Row, ensuring his portrayal was truthful to the legacy of skilled Savile Row artisans. You could often find Mark standing aside Campbell at his board, or amongst the tailors in the workshops gleaning those little details that give his portrayal the depth and realism that make this movie so engaging.
As well as consulting on the film, eager-eyed viewers may also recognize the well-manicured hands of Campbell, who acted as a hand-double, and steals the show in the close-up shots of the film!
The Outfit is another example of a Huntsman collaboration with Hollywood. From the golden age of the 1950s when we first began making outfits for the likes of Katherine Hepburn, Clark Gable, and Gregory Peck, Huntsman has been the preferred tailor for leading lights, both on and off-screen.
The Outfit is released in U.S. theatres on March 18th & U.K theatres from April 8th.
