Clients who know me will know that my advice and recommendations always come from a place of understanding their individual needs, there’s never a one-size-fits-all approach. I’ve selected two cloths that reflect both personal experience and practical performance. After more than eight years at Huntsman, I’ve developed a real appreciation for texture and how a thoughtful cloth choice can truly elevate a garment. These two are among my current favourites: a deep navy hopsack blend that brings subtle character to a formal suit, and a bold black cotton seersucker that’s ideal for relaxed summer tailoring in the city.

Dark Blue Hopsack
Standeven Cape Horn / 16oz / 70% Wool, 30% Mohair
For Signature Double Breasted Suiting
"It felt like the right moment to replace my very first navy suit—something with a bit more personality this time around. We’re big admirers of texture here at Huntsman, and this hopsack is spot on. It’s formal enough to hold its own in a boardroom, but if you look closely, there’s depth and interest to it that sets it apart."
The mohair content gives it crease resistance and a crisp finish, and even though it’s 16oz, the open weave means it breathes surprisingly well in warmer weather. It’s a true all-rounder.

Black/Black Seersucker
Solbiati Zefiro / 240g / 100% Cotton
For Sensational Single Breasted Suiting
"A year ago, I had a wool seersucker suit made from Drapers Montecarlo, and it’s become one of my favourite pieces. This summer, I wanted something a bit bolder—something I could wear in town—so I went for this black cotton version from Solbiati. What I love about it is the exaggerated rise and fall of the railroad stripe. That texture not only gives the cloth its distinctive character, but it also helps keep you cool by holding the fabric slightly away from the skin. It’s relaxed, breathable, and has just the right amount of attitude."

Autumn Leaves
Scabal / 320g / Wool & Cashmere
An Exclusive Preview For Autumn-Winter
"I recently had a sneak preview of what’s coming next from Scabal, and I’m delighted to share that the Autumn Leaves bunch has been reintroduced. This collection has always been a favourite of mine, and its return is well-timed for the season ahead."
The cloths are wool and cashmere blends, which makes them ideal for autumn. The presence of cashmere gives a beautifully soft hand—pleasant to wear and elegant in appearance—while the wool content ensures structure and durability. These cloths aren’t overly delicate; they strike a perfect balance between luxury and everyday practicality. For anyone looking to add warmth, texture, and timeless seasonal character to their wardrobe, this is a superb place to start.
