1886

Our First Royal Warrant

In 1886, the company earned its first Royal Warrant as Leather Breeches Maker to HRH the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). This was swiftly followed by that of Queen Victoria’s second son HRH Prince Albert, Duke of Saxe Coburg Gotha in 1876 and Queen Victoria herself in 1888.

The Death Of Queen Victoria

Huntsman ledgers show records for her funerary order. Includes orders for the entire Royal household. The following page hosts orders for His Majesty the King.

1914 - 1919

Huntsman Tailors For British Troops

Huntsman was a tailor to the war effort. The company's ledgers list hundreds of military customers, with 133 of them "killed in action". Pasted within our ledgers, the 'Treaty of Peace' from 1919 signifies an end to this dark period.

1919

A New Home On Savile Row

Following the Great War of 1919, Huntsman moves to our current home on 11 Savile Row.

1920

Notable Patrons Join The Club

Viscount Winston Churchill, Rudolf Valentino and Lord Charles Cavendish, Adele Astaire are amongst Huntsman's customer list.

1921

The Origin Of Our Stags

Huntsman's iconic stags are left at Huntsman by a customer returning to the city after a weekend at his country estate. Off for a good lunch, he requested he leave the stags with Huntsman to collect upon his return. Until this day, he remains at lunch!

1930

The Dynamic Mr. Packer

The 1930s saw Huntsman pass from its namesake family into the care of Mr Robert Packer. Packer’s influence saw the firm evolve from breeches maker to a bespoke fashion house, producing suits and evening wear and setting the company firmly onto the path that it follows today. Under the guidance of the Packer family and appointments such as Brian Hall and Colin Hammick in the subsequent years that followed, the DNA of Huntsman that prevails through our work today was established.

1940

A Style Defined

The details of our distinctive one button house style are defined by Colin Hammick, who takes the structure of a traditional riding coat and combines it with the elegant nuances of a tuxedo. The principles of our craftsmanship and the cloths with which we are so associated became firmly set in stone, and influence of Hammick and Hall and their work in instilling these principles in their apprentices is unparalleled. 

1953

Hollywood Calling...

Huntsman dresses Clark Gable, Grace Kelly and Ava Gardner, for their leading roles in Mogambo

To Gregory Peck, With Affection

Gregory Peck begins a fifty year relationship with Huntsman. Huntsman tailors a comprehensive wardrobe for Peck both on and off screen, most notably, The Man In The Grey Flannel Suit, The Omen and The Boys From Brazil. A sartorial relationship begins with the Peck dynasty that lasts to this day.

1961

A New Style

Huntsman's Creative Director, the legendary Colin Hammick launches Huntsman's first ready-to-wear collection, reflecting the needs of the contemporary customer.

1965

Good Taste, Personified

Cecil Beaton orders a green velvet suit, demonstrating his unique flair

1966

Football Comes Home!

Huntsman dresses the England World Cup winning team in our ready-to-wear collection.

1971

Best Dressed Man

Colin Hammick twice wins the Best Dressed Man of the Year Award, by Tailor and Cutter magazine, pipping the likes of Rex Harrison and the Duke of Windsor to the post.

2014

The Home Of Kingsman

Hollywood action caper, Kingsman: The Secret Service is released. The film is inspired by Huntsman with many scenes filmed at the store. Matthew Vaughn, a Huntsman client draws inspiration from his own fitting and imagines the secret agency that might lie behind our walls...

2015

Equestrian Excellence

Huntsman becomes official sponsor and outfitter for Sentebale Cup, dressing Prince Harry and team.

Huntsman Goes Back Undercover

Huntsman Goes Undercover: Filming Kingsman 2 commences at 11 Savile Row, this time with explosive consequences!

A Special Sartorial Relationship

Huntsman leads Savile Row houses in a historical showcase of bespoke tailoring in Washington D.C. Curated by Nick Foulkes, a special edition book is published to commemorate the event.

Campbell Carey Appointed Head Cutter

Campbell Carey joins the firm as Head Cutter & Creative Director, launching his first collection, variations on the smoking jacket. With his appointment a renewed energy is instilled in our ready-to-wear and bespoke tweed.

2016

New York Calling

Huntsman opens their Pied A Terre on W57th St New York, appointing Edward P. Turco as their U.S Director. Huntsman is the first Savile Row tailor to establish a permanent residence in New York. The space is an elegant Pied A Terre, the former home of legendary crooner Tony Bennett.

The Art Of Bespoke

Huntsman collaborates with Italian artist Beatrice Caracciolo for 11 limited edition bespoke jackets.

The Huntsman Rolex Daytona

Inspired in homage to Huntsman client Paul Newman, Huntsman partners with Bamford Watch Department to create a fully bespoke Huntsman Daytona.

Boy Meets Girl

Huntsman’s legendary sartorial style becomes a bona fide work of art, following a collaboration between the house and celebrated American artist Ed Ruscha. Ruscha has lent the design of his striking 1987 work, “Boy Meets Girl,”– an acrylic painting that depicts a dazzling grid of lights, overlaid with the words “Boy Meets Girl” – to the lining of a one-off Huntsman jacket, which was successfully auctioned for $26,000 in October to benefit America’s Alzheimer’s Association.

On The Road Again

Huntsman designs a fully bespoke airstream to tour the United States.

The Tweed Competition

Huntsman launches their much loved Tweed Competition. This is an opportunity for anybody to design and submit their own cloth design, for the opportunity to have it created and tailored as a bespoke jacket. Huntsman receives hundreds of entries from around the world.

2018

The Birth Of Bespoke Lifestyle

Huntsman partners with Sothebys to create a series of Bespoke lifestyle experiences.

Huntsman x Reebok

Huntsman announces an innovative collaboration with Reebok, developing a state of the art fabric to be used in sneakers, and also as a bespoke suit.

The worlds of bespoke tailoring and American Football have a serendipitous meeting when  Huntsman’s creative director Campbell Carey fits Jacksonville Jaguars star players Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson in celebration of the NFL coming to London!

The Tweed Experience

Huntsman re-launches their beloved Bespoke Tweed Experience with the unveiling of their in-house Hand Loom. Huntsman becomes the only house on Savile Row to be able to sample bespoke tweed in house.

Huntsman Sews Scrubs

London is on lockdown as to the COVID 19 Pandemic sweeps the globe. Huntsman tailors take their time in confinement to sew essential PPE for the NHS Frontline workforce.

Huntsman X Ron Arad

Huntsman collaborates with the Industrial Designer Ron Arad to create a bespoke car cover for his installation piece 'Morgan Undercover'. The installation is on display at Huntsman, taking over the entire window and entrance.

Huntsman For Balenciaga

Huntsman tailoring features in Demna Gvasalia's debut couture show for Balenciaga.  The collection, which includes Huntsman tailoring for men and women, premieres opening with structured silhouettes handcrafted by Huntsman.

Huntsman & The Outfit

Huntsman is instrumental in bringing bespoke tailoring to the big screen with elegance and accuracy in the latest crime thriller 'The Outfit'.
