The Huntsman Savile Row Honors Student Scholarship is a new scholarship program in recognition and support of the leading scholars at Morehouse College. This year, five honors students; Christian Porter, Hermy Mesidor, Cortney Mays, Yusuf Lewis, and Dawud Crayton, will each receive a bespoke Huntsman suit and a $10,000 bursary as they embark on their post-graduate careers.

The scholarship program is a way to nurture America’s next generation of African American business leaders. Morehouse’s ethos of the “Six Wells” - well-dressed, well-spoken, well-traveled, well-balanced, well-read, and well-written - resonates with Huntsman and our ethos that a suit makes the man, wearing a well-tailored suit is about more than just a garment – it’s about empowerment, confidence, individuality, and what you feel capable of while wearing it.

From our Pied A Terre on W57th Street, New York, US Director Ed Turco and Cutter In Residence Ralph Fitzgerald welcomed the students for their fittings, as we documented them preparing for life after graduation.

Morehouse College is a private, historically black, liberal arts college for men in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. It offers bachelor’s degree programs in business, education, humanities, and physical and natural sciences. Founded by William Jefferson White in 1867 in response to the liberation of enslaved African-Americans following the American Civil War, Morehouse has notable alumni including Martin Luther King Jr, Samuel L Jackson, Spike Lee and Raphael Warnock.

Meet The Students

CHRISTIAN PORTER, SENIOR ECONOMICS

Christian Porter is from Alton, Illinois. He transferred to Morehouse from the United States Military Academy in the Spring of 2019.  He is a senior Economics major and Math minor, and has accepted an offer to join Bank of America’s Global Markets Team in New York after graduation in May of 2021.

YUSUF LEWIS, SENIOR FINANCE

Yusuf Lewis is a finance major from Detroit Michigan and an entrepreneur that owns a sneaker resell company named Sole Snatchers as well as an event company named AtlantaKickHouse. In seventh grade, Yusuf was introduced to sneakers by two friends of his that took interest in his pair of Air Jordan Lakers 6s. After trading his Laker 6s for a G-Shock watch, he was interested in what he could sell his other Air Jordan’s for. He researched sneakers every day after school and joined every Detroit sneaker group to see what the sneaker world had to offer. During his freshman year at Morehouse, he traveled to sneaker events in different states and a result of his hard work was 50k in sales. Due to Yusuf’s love for sneakers he wanted to create a space where students in the AUC could buy/sell/trade sneakers, streetwear, and vintage clothing. It took a while before the Administration took him seriously on creating an event. But they gave him a chance and on Feb 9th, 2019 he hosted the first “Kickhouse” in Archer Hall with 30 vendors and over 100 attendees. Upon graduation, Yusuf now has his focus on his new venture in the cleaning industry with his company RefreshCo.

HERMY MESIDOR, JUNIOR ECONOMICS

Hermy Mesidor is a Junior and Economic Major at Morehouse College from Orlando, Florida. He is a Bonner Scholar, which enables him to serve communities in need while furthering his education. A proud Man of Morehouse, Dawud is excited to continue my matriculation at "The House" along with his Morehouse brothers, while continuing his development.
