Summer in the CITY
While the British summer has yet to make an appearance, Los Angeles fine art photographer Gray Malin brought a beach vibe to London earlier this week, when Huntsman held a party in his honour. The cocktail at Huntsman’s 11 Savile Row headquarters celebrated Malin’s new book “Beaches,” which spotlights his aerial photographs of some of the world’s most captivating vacation spots. Among them are the turquoise waters of Bora Bora, the white shores of the Grand Saline Beach at St. Barth, and sunbathers dotted around the Barcelona Nude Beach. To set the holiday mood, the house decked out its home with blow up swans, bunting, and bowls of sweets – along with Malin’s prints. There were also suitably summery cocktails being served.Among them are the turquoise waters of Bora Bora, the white shores of the Grand Saline Beach at St. Barth, and sunbathers dotted around the Barcelona Nude Beach
London bartenders Cock & Tail mixed a twist on the gin and tonic, made with Bertha’s Revenge Gin, Fever Tree tonic and grapefruit bitters, along with their version of an Old Fashioned, blended with Bulleit rye bourbon, Laphroaig whisky, burnt orange, and bitters. Chase vodka also concocted a Marmalade Mule, made with its marmalade vodka and ginger beer. The party drew an eclectic mix of L.A. names and London’s bright young things. Demi Moore turned out with florist and perfumer Eric Buterbaugh – who both gamely posed in sunglasses whose lenses were printed with Malin’s beach images – along with fashion blogger Danielle Peazer and gallerist Tarka Russell. As a gift to mark the evening, guests took away copies of Malin’s book – a New York Times bestseller – along with iPhone cases bearing his dreamy photographs.
