This ladies gown from 1962 was discovered in our archive by Huntsman’s Creative Director Campbell. Cut by legendary Head Cutter Colin Hammick who was conventionally a menswear cutter, the garment is testament to Hammick’s natural ability to interpret form and shape, regardless of gender.
Such a timeless silhouette was crying out to be recreated, but Campbell recognised that a stylistic update was necessary to make it appealing for the modern client, plus some noteworthy Huntswomen to show it off.
The British Fashion Awards proved the ideal stage to debut these bespoke gowns, in total eight gowns were created for House ambassadors including the likes of Amber Le Bon, Hayley Bloomingdale, June Sarpong MB and Daisy Knatchbull.
The modern update makes an elegant evening gown, in black velvet.
